William Eddie-Jones "Bil" Flowers passed away on Sunday.
February 25,2024. He was 85
Bom on August 22, 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee, he was
the third of George and Mary Jones Flowers' four chidren He attended Memphis Public Schools and enlisted in the miitary in 1960. He was deployed to Germany for a three-year stint in the U.S. Army.
When he returned to the United States. he relocated to Detroit. where he
maried
Odessa Johnson and was hired as a long-haul semi-truck driver for Ford Motor Co. He retired from
Ford after 42 years. He also operated an alarm installation company, Sudan Alarms, for 10 years
He and his wife raised five children, instilling in them a love of education. He modeled the academic excellence he expected of his chidren when he earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 1981.
He was wholly devoted to his wife of more than 60 years and saw caring for her as his most treasured duty.
Left to celebrate Bill Flowers' memory are his wife, Odessa Flowers: his son, Kevin Flowers (Angelia); his daughters, Allison Cohen, Marian Morris (Vince), Damisa Jackson (James) and Rhonda Quin; his sister. Georgia Snipes; three nieces: Mary
"Tori" Flowers, Lorna Flowers and Adrienne Brown-Woods; a nephew, Ronald Flowers (Nicole): his cousin, Karen "Moochie" Stringer; thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Walter and George and his granddaughter, Aron.
A viewing for Bil Flowers will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Pentecostal Temple Church,
30043 Parkwood Street in Inkster. There will be a family hour at the church on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 10 am. until 11 am, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m.
