Burbon Wheeler, III (aka-Koda), was born on July 1, 1962 to Burbon Wheeler Jr., and Robbie Lee
Wheeler in Detroit, Michigan. Burbon, Jr., who was away at the time of his son’s birth playing minor league
baseball, took leave to come home and walked in the house hollering, “where’s my little Koda Brown”. Brown
was dropped and Koda was kept as his nickname.
Burbon III was educated in the Detroit Public School system where he excelled in his studies graduating
from Northwestern High School. Burbon also attended MoTech Automotive Education Center and obtained his
Auto Mechanic’s license; he also attended the Herman A. Breithaupt Career and Technical Center where he
obtained his Welding Certifications. Burbon III would go on to learn home improvement and start a small Home
Renovations business. Burbon enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball, working on cars, tinkering with
electronics, and, had a love for D-Jaying in his earlier years. “DJ B-Nice” was his DJ name.
Burbon III attended Greater Dequindre Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of his grandfather,
Pastor, Robert Bullard Sr. where he accepted Christ at an early age. There he sang in the Children’s Choir, was a
member of the Sunshine Band, and Purity class. In his early teens he served as a Junior Deacon. He served in
the church faithfully until about the age of 19.
Although he suffered with Congestive Heart Failure for the past two years. Burbon was truly blessed of
the Lord, knowing who God is, calling on him many times. The Lord being the merciful God that He is, heard
Burbon’s cry of being tired and called his name. Burbon’s father, Burbon Wheeler, Jr., preceded him in death.
