Reba White Obituary

Mother Reba Lauree White was born on January 13, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan to James and Bernice Wright who preceded her in death.  Most of her childhood was spent growing up between Detroit, Michigan and Warren, Arkansas until 1968.

After being invited to a tent revival service by her sister Emma in 1977, Mother White joined  the Ark of Deliverance Revival Center Church in Detroit, Michigan under the leadership of Pastor Robert T. Jones.  As a faithful member throughout the years, she was a Sunday School teacher, worked in the Outreach Ministry, Back To School Safe Day, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and assisted with  the church plays.  Most recently, she was appointed as a Church Mother and church Assistant Secretary.

Mother White earned her GED from Wayne County Community College in 1980. She began working at the United States Postal Service Bulk Mail Center in Allen Park, Michigan as a Mail Handler in 1981 where she met her husband, Derrick. She retired in 1997.

Mother White enjoyed cooking and was known for her delicious cheesecakes.  She loved playing board games with her family during the holidays.  She collected baseball cards and coins, loved all things Mickey Mouse and  was the “coupon queen”.Mother White also enjoyed traveling and spent time on trips with her friends. She was a fearless witness for the Lord and never met a stranger when it came to telling others about the Good News of Jesus Christ.  More than anything, she loved her family especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Mother White leaves to celebrate and cherish her memory her husband of 41 years, Derrick; one son, Armondo Wright (Phyllis); one daughter, Vernitha Gordon; four grandchildren, Christien & Imanni Wright and Faye & Tatiana Darrell; three great grandchildren, Jamere Williams and Jai’Ana Darrell & Ja’Leyah Darrell;  four brothers, Edward, James, Vaughn, and Thomas Wright; one sister, Fleta Wright; and a host of family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Emma and Edeythe; one brother, William Wright; and one grandson, Delir’eo Darrell.
